Default lack of sex builds up testosterone ??!!

i have heard here and there that if u train hard but restrict your self from having sex, or more precisely, from ejaculating, you actually help your system build up natural testosterone and of course have better results in the gym. I tried to search for this on the internet or fitness magazines, but i cant find anything to back this up so i am assuming it's false, just a word of mouth. Wandering what you guys have to say about that ?!

lack of sex builds up testosterone - Truth or Myth?!

I've actually heard the opposite..
but heard is the key word in that.

I don't see the point of it at all, as most people go to the gym to get in shape, I seriously doubt any increase in strength from restricting sex nor could I see anyone even wanting to add the no sex in their lifestyle to a workout routine. Most people are not professional bodybuilders and I seriously doubt they would follow that too. I believe it is just a fallacy.

True or not, I'm just not willing to take the chance that it isn't and deprive myself for nothing.

I remember reading a paper that relates to this but its been a while. From what i remember, the sex act can actually cause the release of certain hormonal compounds that speed recovery and enhance all kinds of metabolic functions (albeit very slightly). I'm sure I have the paper around somewhere, but i know its 6-7 years old at least.
Ive also read studies that showed as little as the equivalent of 1 oz of alcohol can negatively affect strength levels the following day. So IMHO sex is not going to hijack your training goals unless you have to have a few drinks first. Or shes married, and you're not her husband. THAT could be very detrimental to your training!

I've heard about this before from my little brother when he wrestled. I think the only reason that people think this is true is because they get sexually frustrated and have to take out their frustration on something. I forget where I've seen it but I know I have seen something that proved that this was a myth. Thats not a good enough excuse anyways!

It's a superstition that is prevailed in sports like boxing and wrestling. If there is any truth to the aggression factor, it's not going to help you lift.

I used to take regular dry saunas after a light workout, and there was this crazy old man who was always in there, and he was a bit 'new age'. He used to talk about a bunch of cutting-edge detox ideas, and one of them was you (men) shouldn't have sex (or masturbate) more than once, every other day. His philosophy was that the amount of hormones released during 'release' weren't immediately replenished; the body needed time to rebuild it's reserves. And if you had sex (or otherwise) more than 2x's in one day, you could actually create adverse reactions in your hormonal balance.

I've been there and I think there's a lot of truth to that. The more you ejaculate in a short span of time, the more your hormonal balance is way out of wack. It's hard to describe, but there is a lot of biological evidence supporting the theory. When we were trying to get pregnant, my wife's doctor suggested we have sex every-other day during her furtile period. And now we have twins. On the first attempt.

...but that might mean my sperm kicks ass, too.

lol ... that's funny

so it appears that there is just a pinch of truth to that, but maybe the best thing to do is not too much and not too little, maybe between two and four times a week should keep my testosterone going while maintaining enough aggression to push the weights...

P.S. and i guess it seems a good idea not to ejaculate in any way before workout, since it will drain your aggression for sure

I also wouldn't recommend ejaculating during your workout either for that matter.

I googled it too and found nothing. Not even www.urbandictionary.com had anything on it. Too many people talking in initials now a days like we are supposed to know what it means!
