Why do most football teams, high school level i duno about upper leevls, seem to teach trap bar deadlift, instead of conventional straight bar? I know my school does, and when they do powerlifting meets, most of them can't stand the transaction and weight suffers alot on pulls... so what's the point?

It places more stress on the shoulder joint and works the traps in a different way then a conventional hold on DL's. I don't know why they would include them in a program except for variety.

BTW, which powerlifting meets have you gone to that have a trapbar deadlift? Reason I ask is I have been to several dozen over the years and I have yet to see one at a meet.

None do, maybe i worded it wrong, but when everybody from my school goes to meets' there deadlift suffers alot because they never train with straight bar.

If it suffers, then obviously it isn't working and they should start training with a straight bar

Their regular deads likely suffer from their lower back being the weak
point. With a trap-bar, you can take a more upright stance to
lift the weight, which places more emphasis on your traps (hence the
name), upper back, and legs.

But with the straight bar, you are forced to bring the weight up in
front of your legs, placing more emphasis on your lower back and less
on the traps. So if one is used to doing trap-bar deads, their
lower back is not going to be as strong as if they had been doing
regular deadlifts.
