Default Iiiiiiit's hockeyyyyy tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!!

preseason is FINALLY here! i do believe that SJ is 4-0 right now (soon to be 5-0 after we play Vancouver again tonight), looks like our new roster is working nicely... maybe top seed this year?

btw, if you dont pay a million dollars a month for the NHL network, you can stream preseason (and regular season) games @ Fromsport.com or sportlemon.tv. juuuuuust in case you didnt know. also works on iphone / other smart phones. and no, it's not just for hockey. they have everything from MotoGP to chinese soccer games on there.

Penguins are 4-0 right now as well, soon to be 6-0 after this weekend's Midwest swing I'll be at the Red Wings game on Sunday.

If I were you I'd hope against that. The Sharks haven't got much luck when that happens!

Nice! I have a cracked NHL app for my phone that lets me stream every game, which I use when I can't find an online stream for non-televised Penguins games. I'll have to bookmark this.

wooo!! go pens! lol. oh nice, that'll be a good game! i need to get my ass down to the shark tank a few times this season... good thing i get PTO at work lol.

hahaha true, they're definitely more of a comeback team. i really want to see them win the cup this year, i think they deserve it as a team who's never won.

oh, that's sick! what's the app called?

It's the NHL GameCenter app for Verizon, but a hacked version that lets you put it onto any carrier's phone. If you have an Android phone I can send it to you. You'd just need a location spoofer (free on the market) to skirt the blackout restrictions and you'll be good to go.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Sharks win. After all they've been through they could use one.

Pens lost to the Wings today (figures, they lose the game I go to)...

Whatever you find it'll have to be a cracked app to allow you to view the games w/o an actual GameCenter Live account. There's probably one out there somewhere. Good luck

lol that sucks, the wings are a tough team though. sj lost to the coyotes...

gotcha. i looked around a little last night, and the only one i found is the regular game center app, which is a lot like the sportstap app. im gonna keep my eyes open though.

Wings are tough but the Pens can take 'em. They just beat them last week in Pittsburgh, though I knew when that happened I was most likely going to watch them lose in person. Just my luck. I've been to the SCF Finals games in 2008 and 2009 so no matter what ever happens between the two I'll always have '09!

The Coyotes can be a tough team to play, too. Teams like that have a knack to have certain teams' numbers.

Seeing them win it live was something I'd wanted to do since I was a kid, so it was pretty surreal when it all came together. Especially considering what I went through in 2008!

Yep, and because of that '09 was even better than I could've asked for. In 2008, the Pens won game 5 in triple-OT and forced game 6 which they ultimately lost. The atmosphere in Detroit to get the Cup that night though was worth the heartache. It was without question the best game I've ever seen (plus it was almost 2x as long, and who can argue that )

Some jerk bumped this thread with spam, but I kinda forgot it was here anyway.

Penguins are tearing it up!

James Neal is pulling through like we hoped he would last year, currently 1 goal away from being tied for leading the league. Hopefully he keeps it up, he's on pace for a hell of a season. On the flipside, Malkin is starting out slowly. That needs to change Then of course, there's the whole Sid thing. I just hope there's no lost mojo once he gets back, and that they seemingly rely on him to do everything like the past couple years.

I think this thread title needs to be changed to Pens Hockey.

BTW, what is up with all the crazy spam lately? Good grief.

Start talking about the Bruins I haven't seen much of them lately. AT&T dropped NHL Network so I'm only able to watch what's on Versus, local (Wings), or CBC if any of the teams are interesting (very rare).

I bet I've banned 20 spammers this month. If you're getting anywhere nea rthe same amounts, that's insane.

I haven't been able to see a whole lot of games. But I do know they're on a tear right now. And Paille is one tough cookie.

I've banned probably 10 this month. At least it feels like it.

What an awesome comeback game! The place was going insane. 2 goals, 2 assists in a 5-0 win. Here's the first goal, very Sid-like. His 2nd goal was another killer backhand from the far side of the circle.

Pens v Chicago tonight and it is on Versus, thanks god! I hate having to watch the dismal 'Canes play all the time. I miss being in Pittsburgh

Maybe we can score another 8 tonight?

Malkin ties for the league lead in scoring, and James Neal is 1 goal shy of being tied for the lead in goals. Go Pens!

5 in a sucky row. They should just hire Patrick Roy as a coach - at least things would be entertaining....things can't get any worse!

Bruins have won 5 in a row, just change teams! They probably have more Quebecois players anyway.

edit: B's have 2 and Habs have 3. Close enough!

Hopefully Neal racks up a few tonight, I'd love to see him win the Rocket. And of course, Geno piling up some points is needed as well. It's only a matter of time before he takes the points lead and runs away with it.

And a fight!

Speaking of that, the Bruins/Canucks game was crazy this afternoon.

Penguins are currently in a suck streak.

Did anyone else watch 24/7 on HBO?

How awesome is 24/7 production? Their boxing and football (hard knocks) productions are amazing also. They could do a golf 24/7 and I would probably still watch that!!!

Sucks the Rangers are looking pretty good this year and have taken it to us... I'm glad we're finally giving it to the Pens

24/7 is great. Because of this I sought out and watched the boxing series w/Mayweather and Pac. I'll keep an eye out for others. I'm no Flyers or Rangers fan but I'd think of myself a fool as a fan of the game to not want to watch it no matter who was in it.

BTW I just knew Jagr and/or Talbot would score against the Pens, of course both of them did They were playing so well until Sid came back and got knocked back out; ever since they've been so dejected and lifeless.

Habs won - that's 2 in a row. Bet I see aluminum foil Stanley Cup hats at the next game!

BTW I just knew Jagr and/or Talbot would score against the Pens, of course both of them did They were playing so well until Sid came back and got knocked back out; ever since they've been so dejected and lifeless.
HAHA, I was watching that game with one of my best friends who is a huge Pitt fan. It was hilarious, really a shame about Crosby. We HATE him more than any other player but he's good for the sport

It's nice to hear that. As you can imagine it gets old quick when people are saying they're glad he's out or whatever. That's messed up, no matter who it is. I felt bad when Pronger went out, when Markov went back on the shelf before he even really got off, etc. Pronger is a guy I love to hate on, but I do kinda like him.

Just call the Pittsburgh Pens the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Baby Pens for the next month. No Crosby, Staal, Neal, Letang, etc. God how does this manage to happen to the Pens 2 years in a row.

I HATED Cheli while he was a Blackhawk but I easily warmed up to him after awhile of playing here. I think it's because he softened up a bit and embraced Detroit (team, city, people, etc.).

Yay! Good news on the Sid front, he's been cleared for contact and "could" come back at anytime. There is, of course, no timeframe for it, and I for one am in no rush to see it. We're kicking ass as-is and I figure the longer he's out, the better for when he returns. I'd like to see him come back for the playoffs at least.

Yeah, in all honesty... he is the face of hockey. Not that i personally care for him. Seems to have been an abnormal season for injuries though. Even Todd Mclellan was, or is, out. Or Douglas Murray with a broken adam's apple?! OUCH! Lol

How does one break an adam's apple? Ouch.

I am excied Sid is cleared for contact, just hope he doesn't rush it. I'm more concerned about Letang, I feel we definitely need him for the PP and that will be even more important during playoffs.

What happened to Murray? That sounds very dangerous.

Puck to the throat. I wasn't aware you could necessarily "break" your adam's apple... thought it would be more of like a collapsed trachia or whatever. Buuuut, he is alive and well now. I couldn't imagine going through that. Like how would you even swallow? Lol. He actually had to have some custom neck guard made and attached to his pads. Crazy stuff.

Still concussion like symptoms, he is cleared for light exercise though so hopefully it will only be another week or so.

Pens are on another streak, 7 in a row with an up and coming back up getting 2 of the wins

I have enjoyed watching every series EXCEPT the Pens-Flyers, and that is not because I am a die-hard Pens fan either. All of the other series are showcasing the talent, skill, and toughness required to play these brutal series.

The Pens-Flyers show it at times, but it is mostly just nonsense. It disgusts me overall, and I don't believe that you should see playoff games that are 8-5, 8-4 or anywhere near that range. Even if it were the Pens that were up 3-0 I would rather watch the other series. Seeing the 1-0 or even 3-2 games is so much more exciting, I would take a tough hard fought battle than the games that are playing now.

Whoever makes it out of the Pens-Flyers series really needs to realize that just because they got away with giving up insane amount of goals doesn't mean that when they face a competent defense/goalie they will have the same luck.

/rant.

Pretty much. Pittsburgh just completely fell apart and the Flyers are just exploiting it. It'll be interesting to see if they can dial it back and play tighter games in the next round if (lol) they make it.

The LA/Vancouver series is much better and that's also at 3-0. But they're closer games and any of them could have come down to a matter of bounces.

Ah well. Hopefully they will finally find a good fix for the PP/PK. And maybe MAF will figure out how to keep from turning into a sieve.

Yeah, I think a new PP/PK regimen is passed due for SJ. There's been talk about trading Marleau, Clowe, and Boyle too... so it will be interesting to see what Todd puts together for next year. I think the whole team really just needs an overhaul. Didn't see the desire to win games this season, poor placement on the ice, not enough shots on goal, and the shots they actually had were just crap... not to mention PP/PK. Gotta give it to the Blues though, they've played really well this year and I'm pretty sure Brian Elliot was the #1 goalie in the league this season and set the franchise record for like .7 GAA and .9 saves or something like that.

How are the other series' going? I haven't had time to watch any other games yet.

Canucks, Penguins, and Blackhawks are all out. Coyotes/Preds and Kings/Blues are the matchups for next round in the West. All remaining East series are going to game 7 this week.

I'm thinking Blues/Preds will come out of the West. That will be a great series (hopefully) if it works out that way.

Out of the East I have no idea. It honestly seems like every team in the East is just Blah. I don't see the desire from every game, it seems one game they will be on and the next it will be a completely different team. I am thinking Ottawa, Boston, Florida, and Philly make up the East semi's with Boston and Philly moving on (pending Philly's interesting goalie situation).

West is gonna take the Cup this year.

man, it's been an interesting year for hockey. not at all what I was expecting at the start of the season.

I have a feeling either the Blues or Coyotes are makin it to the finals, both teams have played really well this year. Haven't watched any East games, though from what I've been hearing no one is very impressed...

The Caps/Bruins series is great. All were very close with most going to OT. I think every single game was a 1-goal game. Both are high-flying teams (well, maybe not so much the Caps this year) but the series is very tight and defensive.

Rangers/Sens is pretty good. Nothing very exciting but a tight series for sure just like above. I'm enjoying watching it.

Devils/Panthers...pfft. Boring!

I would expect the top two to be pretty good... Hopefully the Bruins come out on top though, I'm not a huge fan of Mr. Ovechkin. And Rangers/Senators I could honestly care less haha.

Devils... mehhhh... everyone is too busy gettin a tan at The Showar dawn en Jyarzzy <- my Jersey accent learned from Jersey Shore commercials.
Panthers........... isn't one crap team good enough for Florida?

I grew up around the Bruins so I'm a fan, and as a Penguins fan I obviously dislike the Caps by default. I don't care about the Sens or Rags but I'm still bitter about '94 so the Rangers can screw

At least the Lightning has a Cup, that's pretty good.

Yeah, if I had to pick and Eastern Conference team it would definitely be between Boston and Pittsburgh. Both are respectable teams... although Sid's whining does get a little old lol.

I wasn't watching hockey back in '94... I was three years old hahaha.

Yeaaaaahh, good point. More than I can say about "my team"

As captains, they're really the only ones on the ice allowed to really discuss the game's flow w/the refs. There are far worse than he has been for the past 3-4 years, just as there are worse at embellishing. Sid's in the spotlight and many don't like him, so he gets all the hate by default

No one who doesn't see the Rangers play often will say Callahan is a whiner, but he comes off as one of the worst. It's just that nobody overall cares about him or his team even if it's to hate them.

I guess I should rephrase that to: hearing everyone whine about Sid's whining gets old.
Of course people are going to hate on him, he really is the poster child of hockey, currently. Future generations will refer to him as they do Gretzky now.

Hahaha yeah, I don't even know who he is... never watched a Rangers game in my life.

Yeah, every time I open my mobile calendar, I get sad. The Google Calendar has a feature where you can add your favorite team's schedule to your calendar. So when I open my calendar, I see all the potential Red Wing games I've missed.

Well the Wild have had my season ticket money since May and finally have a team with some hope so I'll keep my fingers crossed. In reality it is pure greed on all sides and hockey players and teams need to remember the fans who made them rich. I'd love to see a stadium with $5 beers and tailgating. The NHL is forgetting what made people fans in the first place. They are worried about appeal yet they crack down on the fights and hits. Do they really think MMA grew from nothing because people don't want to see fights?

You missed at least one good game where they would've played the Penguins though!

Lots of talk from the player/owner meetings this week that they are pushing and actually expecting a deal to be made by the week's end. I've read about everything that's been put out as far as news goes, and all the "questions" of possible status updates didn't seem like this. Hopefully that alone means the difference and we'll get some puckin' hockey soon!

After waiting for a good 45 minutes - an hour at Buffalo Wild Wings for the drunk 9ers fans to clear out; and they cleaned the place up (9ers fans are such upstanding citizens) finally got to watch...... wait........ I watched........... HOCKEY?!?! Yes, and we spanked Calgary.

The Wings kicked ass last Friday when SC and I were in the house. No matter how bad they're doing, it seems whenever I pick games to go to they come out on top. Penguins games notwithstanding, but that's my preference anyway

I'm the opposite. Every Wings game I've been to they lose. I won't go anymore.

Penguins are back to looking goof after a few games worth of sucking. I think they're 2nd in the East currently and Sid and Malkin are both playing well. Now to hope they see no injuries!
